Artificial intelligence (AI) is a promising tool in medicine. Together with a well-recognized group at the LUMC in Leiden (The Netherlands) our plan is to study different histopathological lesions in kidney biopsies (i.e. normal, and crescentic glomeruli). With the help of AI, the aim is to provide a more accurate prediction model. Biopsies from a previously published and well phenotyped cohort will be used (van Daalen EE, Clin J Am Soc Nephrol 2020; 15:1103-1111).

The student should have an interest in programming as the main work will be at the Department für Medizinische Statistik, Informatik und Gesundheitsökonomie. Python programming is necessary to carry out the analyses (under the supervision of Maryam Sadeghi, MSc).
